🧠 About CodeGPT
CodeGPT started with an AI code generation tool that has been used by more than 2 million developers across 180 countries. Now, CodeGPT Service, a new business unit, helps companies implement AI in different processes, giving companies AI superpowers.
This position is for the Technical Leader of the CodeGPT Code Gen product, where we
help engineers code faster, smarter, and collaboratively by combining large language models with deep integration into real developer workflows (VSCode, JetBrains, and beyond).
We’re now looking for a Technical Leader to lead the next phase of our product, scale our
infrastructure, evolve our AI-assisted development platform, implement technical initiatives, propose improvements, and drive innovation across our ecosystem.
🎯 The Role
You’ll own the technical direction and quality of the CodeGPT Code Gen product, from
architecture to user experience.
This is a leadership role for someone who codes, mentors, and makes product decisions
with a “user-first” mindset.
We expect autonomy: you’ll define priorities, build the roadmap with the CEO, and ensure
what we ship is reliable, fast, and genuinely improves the developer workflow.
⚙️ Hard Skills
1. AI Engineering & Productization
Deep understanding of LLM-based products: prompt engineering, model selection,
fine-tuning, LLM Infrastructure, vector databases, retrieval, and evaluation
frameworks.
Can design and operate architecture for BYOK, token accounting, caching, rate
limiting, and API gateway layers.
2. Full-Stack & Infrastructure
Deep experience with AWS (Lambda, ECS, RDS, CloudFront, etc.).
CI/CD automation (GitHub Actions, Terraform, or similar).
Database optimization (PostgreSQL, Redis, DynamoDB).
Strong sense of security and data governance (AI API key management, logging,
IAM).
Experience with monitoring and observability (Datadog, Grafana, etc.).
Familiarity with Supabase or similar BaaS platforms.
3. Coding Fluency
Strong in modern TypeScript runtimes (Node.js, Deno, or Bun).
Solid understanding of modern frameworks.
Can write production-grade code; not just manage engineers.
Familiar with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub
Copilot, Windsurf, CodeGPT, or similar environments that accelerate developer
productivity
4. Quality & Engineering Standards
Establishes and enforces code review practices, testing, and release discipline.
Ensures observability and reliability are built-in, not bolted on.
Champions developer productivity and technical excellence across the stack.
5. Fluent in English (MANDATORY)
Able to lead technical discussions and collaborate with U.S.-based
stakeholders.
👥 Leadership & Mindset
Acts as owner, not executor; defines priorities, ensures quality, and drives delivery
without constant direction.
Pragmatic: knows when to build, integrate, or buy.
Leads the transition from hacky prototype → scalable, maintainable platform.
Obsessed with the developer experience — designs with empathy for end users.
Builds and mentors a small, high-performance team (reviews, architecture guidance,
hiring standards).
Balances technical depth with business context: pricing, token costs, and AI infra
trade-offs.
Thinks 6–12 months ahead about architecture, infra, and team design.
Works directly with founders to align tech, product, and business vision.
🧩 Nice-to-Have Experience (you will working with all of this)
Scaled AI SaaS products — ideally developer-facing tools or productivity platforms.
Architected multi-tenant systems with usage-based billing, token metering, and
per-org isolation.
Built and shipped AI integrations (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, HuggingFace,
LangChain, etc.).
Designed agentic systems — tool use, MCPs (server & client), multi-step
reasoning, or workflow orchestration.
Hands-on with modern AI SDKs (Vercel AI, OpenAI Agents, Gemini, Mastra,
Livekit, Voice Agents).
Implemented AI observability — tracing, cost analytics, and performance
monitoring for LLM-driven features.
Experience with product analytics stacks (Mixpanel, PostHog, Amplitude, etc.).
💰 Compensation & Structure
Base: Competitive (depending on location and experience)
Reporting to: CEO & Co-Founder
